VLC media player plays nearly everything.
Or maybe іt’s a tеrrіbƖе torrent.

Use VLC Media Player that comes with Ubuntu (Don’t use the one for WIndows as it is suspectable to spyware and malware) and you can play nearly anything.
The torrent is just the method of downloading the media file. You’ll have to say what files you’re downloading (specifically, the file extension) before we can say why it won’t play properly.
In any case, you should download VLC media player and try running it in that, as it supports the most different types of media files.
Yeah use DivX or KMPlayer. Windows player is just for show. You need the Codex if you are vacant to play .mkv files or .mp4. Or any number of block out file formats.
Try playing them with Gomplayer. a free media player, that can play any file types.
